Understand Motorhome Rental Excess

Introduction

Motorhome Rental Excess Insurance is available to buy as a standalone insurance policy and as an alternative to the excess waiver offered by the hire companies.

What is a Motorhome?

• A vehicle up to 7.5T which includes fixed sleeping or cooking facilities.
• This can include a purpose built vehicle or a professionally custom built vehicle.
• We use Motorhome but this term also includes campervans

What is Motorhome Rental Excess Insurance?

Motorhome Rental Excess Insurance insures a person renting a motorhome for their financial liability to the rental company. Your financial liability will be set out in the rental agreement and in the main relates to damage to the rented motorhome. We have included additional benefits providing a more comprehensive package.

Buying Options

1. Single Rental Agreement covers one rental agreement up to 180 days in length

Please note that we will only cover a rental agreement if the period of the rental agreement dates match the dates of the policy.

Eligibility

To be eligible to buy a policy, you agree to the eligibility terms below. At the time of purchase of the policy: -

• You are a permanent resident of Ireland
• You are at least twenty-three (23) years of age and legally able to drive the rented vehicle and are not driving against the advice of a medical practitioner.
• You are renting a motorhome
• The rental is taking place outside of Ireland

Exclusions

• Any motorhome valued more than €120,000.
• Any rental where the lead driver named on the rental agreement is different to the lead drivers named on the Certificate of Insurance.
• Any damage however caused where the dates on the rental agreement do not fall within the dates on the Certificate of Insurance.
• Any damage however caused when you are not driving in accordance with the terms and conditions of the rental agreement.
• Any amount of the excess shown on the certificate of insurance.
• This policy only covers the hire of a Motorhome, defined as a vehicle with cooking and sleeping facilities. Any other vehicle is excluded, including Cars, Vans and Minibuses
• The amount of any excess shown on the certificate of insurance
